Lavani is a combination of dance and music, which is performed to the beats of Dholki, a percussion instrument, giving it a powerful rhythm.

Lavani is performed by the female performers wearing nine-yard long saris and the topic ranges from politics, romance, love, faith and society. Lavani has contributed substantially to the development of Marathi folk theatre.
